CRATE Pulls of the Week
Every Friday we update CRATE with the records that don't quite belong on Condensed and probably need bigger speakers anyway. Bass music, UK garage, breaks, electro, festival weapons, late-night discoveries... if it rattles the speakers, it probably ended up here. Here are this week's favorite additions.
2hollis – “Hurt”
Upload the song. Slap together a cover. Post a teaser. Wait to see if the algorithm cares before deciding whether the record deserves a real campaign. That's backwards. If you believed in the song enough to make it, believe in it enough to build a world around it. 2hollis gets it. With “Hurt,” the sound and self-directed visuals all belong to the same world. This is a choreographer's dream. Every beat begs for movement, every frame feels intentional, and every creative decision pushes in the same direction. This isn't throwing a song into the void and hoping it catches fire. This is showing up with a flamethrower.
Goldie – “Jungle Daze” (Featuring Natalie Williams)
I can't believe Goldie wrote me a song. It's too tailored to be a coincidence. To this day, if anyone asks me to describe my tempo sweet spot, I point them somewhere between 160 and 180 BPM. That's the heartbeat. "Jungle Daze" immediately sends me back to my early rave days, dripping in oversized JNCOs with pant legs so shredded they basically doubled as industrial-strength Swiffers while I completely lost my mind in the crowd. Goldie helped define those years. Hearing him tap back into that energy all these years later feels like running into an old friend who hasn't aged a day.
The Widdler – “System Failure” (Ganja White Night Remix)
If your subwoofer has a safe word, now would be a good time to use it. Ganja White Night doesn't remix songs so much as abduct them, strap rockets to their backs and send them hurtling toward another dimension. Then the drop hits around the :55 mark and suddenly your speakers are filing for workers' compensation. This thing doesn't just wobble. It commits felonies against low-end frequencies. Whatever "System Failure" was before, Ganja White Night turned it into System Achiever.
Dr. Ushuu & Redstain – “Paranoid”
You have exactly 41 seconds to gather your loved ones and evacuate the premises. When the drop arrives, it doesn't knock on the door. It drives a stolen monster truck straight through your living room with Dr. Ushuu and Redstain behind the wheel. "Paranoid" is a full-blown bass assault with a look of genuine concern on its face.
AHEE & Stylust – “Smoke A Blunt”
Who am I to ignore explicit instructions? AHEE and Stylust team up for "Smoke A Blunt" and proceed to declassify top-secret production knowledge until your speakers start wondering why everything suddenly sounds so... green. Chunky bass and an irresponsible amount of low-end have this entire paragraph post-mating Taco Bell and reaching for Visine.
