J. Worra – "Adored"

J. Worra – "Adored"

Knowing what you’ve found is half the magic.

J. Worra found the vocal for “Adored” buried in a sample pack, which makes the finished record feel a little like proof of concept for having good instincts. She heard “When I’m with you my dreams come true,” pulled the right pieces apart and built around them without losing what caught her attention in the first place. The result is ridiculously easy to like: a vocal that makes you want to look across the room at somebody, paired with a beat that gives you every reason to keep looking.

The real trick is knowing what to build around. “Got this feeling I just can’t ignore. Wanna make you feel this way too.” That’s basically the assignment, and J. Worra spends the rest of the record making sure you’re having too much fun to request additional information. The production bounces forward, the vocal keeps circling back, and suddenly staying for one more song feels like an entirely sensible life decision.

“Adored” also understands something dance music occasionally forgets while chasing bigger drops and increasingly elaborate ways to blow CO2 into the air: the hook can be the whole damn point. J. Worra found hers hiding in a sample pack.
