Jace Cameron – "Easy"

Jace Cameron – "Easy"

The wardrobe to Narnia is over here.

The first time I listened to “Easy,” I wasn't entirely convinced Jace Cameron was real. He looks a little like someone designed a pop star in a laboratory: porcelain features, every photograph suspiciously perfect. Then he starts singing and whatever seam you were looking for disappears. That voice doesn't seem like it should belong to him. It arrives almost disembodied, like someone found the button on Mattel's latest creation

“Easy” barely seems interested in gravity. The production keeps the song suspended a few inches above the ground, while Cameron's voice hovers somewhere closer to the ceiling. Even the lyrics seem perfectly comfortable up there, reaching for connection while wishing everything could remain as effortless as it sounds.

Cameron never interrupts the fantasy to explain himself. There’s no wink toward the camera and certainly no apology. There’s no character to break. No prototype missing from the assembly line. In a world of Instagram versus reality, Cameron seems to have skipped the versus. But hey, I’m not here to shove anyone through the wardrobe into Narnia. I can only point you toward the door. You’re free to stay on this side if you want. Personally, I think the choice is pretty “Easy.”
