Best Of 2014: New Artists

best new artist 2014 If you call me biased, I'll probably suggest you call someone who cares. The proof is in the numbers having already garnered over 7M online stream with three releases. Golden Coast's debut conjures up its California namesake with danceable drums, sunny synths, verby guitars and just enough rasp in the falsetto to offset the levity. The duo combines the best of both their skill-sets: a mixture of electronic and organic instruments, tight production, and sanguine themes set to no shortage of instantly hooky melodies. -Brent

Few artists this year have come close to either the output or the impact that Max Graef has made. Heading a new wave of house and musicianship in electronic music, Graef has created some of the grooviest dance music in recent years as well as releasing an excellent debut LP that’s not afraid to explore new territory. -Caleb

BØRNS has one of the most riveting and unique voices I’ve heard this year. He has such a fresh and original sound that shines amongst today’s overproduced music. -Robbie

Claire Courchene is no stranger to music. The LA cellist and trombonist has played for the likes of Kanye, Frank Ocean, and Rhye just to name a few. But her newest project, a richly harmonic foray into electronic music, has my hearts in knots. Just wait. 2015 = Ana-Tole. -Stephen
