[MUST LISTEN] Mutya Keisha Sioban: Flatline

Mutya Keisha Siobhan, for those hopelessly unaware, are the original incarnation of the iconic British girl group Sugababes and their reformation rivals any excitement that may have swept Britain in the 16th Century. (Yes I just compared a pop girl group to one of the largest politi-religious events of the past half century, I AM NOT SORRY)

Where was I...

Right, MKS.

The trio announced the event in July 2012, then we waited, for what seemed like an eternity, for their new material. MKS kept us in constant suspense, with surprise shows in London, interviews, teasers and that amazing Kendrick Lamar remix.

Finally it is here, the moment we have all been waiting for. MKS have given us 'Flatline' in full and it is glorious. Spring loaded with a bubbly, 80's pop beat, that in true MKS manner is fused with early 90's R&B piano driven melodies - it's subtle, but endlessly beautiful & addictive.

Our friend MuuMuse said it best, "And then, there’s that spine-tingling opening lyric, courtesy of Siobhan: “Don’t say it, no / Please wait ’til we’re sober.” Gulp." This is going to be a powerful, not only beautiful song. By the time the pre-chorus, fueled by Keisha's textured vocals, kicks in you will already be completely hooked, and people, we aren't even to the bridge, the chorus of Ooooh's or a final chorus that is a pure spiritual moment, to then be slowly brought back down to earth on a shimmering bed of synths and harmonies.

MKS have taken us to church and I feel blessed.
