You want us to read your email, listen to your music, and post to our site? We want that, too. It’s how we discover awesome artists (and not so awesome ones) and find the music to rock out to on a daily basis. But with what can seem like a million submissions some days, we aren’t able to respond to every submission, much less post them all (nor should we!). So if you want the best chance of success, make sure you do all of the following:
- Subject line: “Submission: Artist – Song/Album.” Skip the laudatory adjectives and creative vocabulary.
- Keep the body short and to the point. Short emails get read, long ones? Not so much.
- Keep it MP3 ONLY with the ability to preview/stream before downloading.
- Any images must be 640 pixels wide or larger. Include at least 2, no more than 4.
- Include a bio and all available links to social networking sites, as well as direct and offline contact info (aka telephone and email). And oh yeah, if we post you, tweet the hell out of it.
- Skip the press kit, media coverage, snippets from other blogs.
- Respect our quality and our coverage. Take a look at the site and the music we cover, and make sure you’re a fit.
Artists are the essential ingredient to our success, and the ones we love, we truly support in every way we can. We want to count you among that crew, but we need your help to do it. The above list isn’t meant to be harsh, it’s meant to help both you and us do what we do best: spread the word.
You’ll find our direct emails on the about page, but emails sent to submissions (at) kickkicksnare (dot) com will be received by the whole team.
