I love Dent May. He is a crooner of elite silvery creations through and through. His tracks are almost illegally infectious. I can’t tell you how many times his music pops up leaving me instantly switching shuffle mode to repeat. I must have listened to the track below at least 50 times in a row today. I’m not kidding. It’s obviously a condition (like my consumption of Razzles) that I’m not even sure I should be sharing. Nonetheless, this laid back summer jam ventures into unchartered almost vintage territory and proved today that it deserves year-round status. The music world is in a better place because of this kind of easygoing and yet completely off-kilter craftsmanship. I guarantee it will brighten your day, even if you’re a total fucking mess and under the darkest of clouds.

Well I am not sure how I missed tease #1 for Let It Go, but thank god I discovered it and a very sneaky tease #2 for Run, Run, Run. My favorite band is back! After a busy, busy year working with some of the very best DJ’s the world has to offer (Diplo, Martin Solveig, Kaskade) the trio is prepping for a new album, tour and a fantastic time at SXSW & Coachella. I am so excited I can barely type this post. (sorry for any uncorrected typos)

After nearly a year underground (or lurking in the dark corners of who-knows-where), the Gorillaz’s Murdoc Niccals has resurfaced and is again wreaking havoc — this time over the airwaves. The miserable despot breaks his radio silence to let you lovely kiddie-winkles know that he’s now created some new kind of monster. Stay tuned in to find out what it is.

Antonio Paul, Australian indie pop group, first exploded into my ears in October 2010 with they unbelievably fun track ‘City Lights‘. It was part of the Treasures EP and was made in a shed in one of their backyards with nothing more than an iPad, sample pad and a guitar. From their D.I.Y. days they have come along way, touring and playing large festivals in Oz. They have just released their second EP, End of the World, and the 3 song EP is still packed with tons of upbeat energy, infectious melodies and their signature fast paced guitar and vocal delivery. It definitely continues where Treasures left off.

St. Lucia first hooked me with his warm, percussive, synthy goodnesss last Summer and I have been happily bobbing my head and humming lyrics ever sense. Of all his songs ‘We Got It Wrong’ is my favorite, even out of the 6 songs on the new, yet to be released, EP. (Thanks for the advance copy! No worries there will be NO need to call in the Dominican’s Rene)
Remixes of your favorite songs can go one of two ways – completely offend you and the love you have for the original track, or if the musical gods align add to and advance the original and breathe something fresh into it. I have long been a fierce advocate of radio and original mixes, but have slowly begun to warm up to the thought of another musician changing something I already hold dear. So when I heard that Neon Gold Records would be releasing a remix EP for ‘We Got It Wrong’ I quickly hit iTunes and anxiously awaited the download.
What I found was a trio of remixes that complimented the original and Starsmith, in particular, took it to somewhere I have been hoping for for months now. He takes the warm haze of the original and infuses it with his bright and upbeat brand of electro-pop to create a version that is energetic, epic and meant to be danced to. I love St. Lucia, and have been looking for a way to better work it into a DJ set, I have found my solution.

Toddla T just introduced us to Roses Gabor and oh my god. I do not normally promote mixtapes but this 45 minute compilation, including a blend of original RG tracks and mingled classics, blew. me. away. A tip of the hat to MARTELO responsible for the mix. Let’s just say I’m a little late to the Roses Gabor party, but you better believe I’m here now and I’m kickin off my shoes and staying awhile. Can you say interview coming soon? And yes, this will definitely be soundtracking the guest house bedroom soon! You know who you are. EVERYONE. DOWNLOAD The Wonder World Of Roses Gabor Vol. 1, below. A perfect 10!
