I DIDN’T KNOW THIS WAS HAPPENING!!! I CAN’T, I JUST CAN’T! Too much much amazing in one video! (I also realize this has been on the web since late March, but…) Mayer Hawthorne‘s retro sounding incredibly witty and wry track ‘The Walk’ get a fresh injection from the cheeky and brash boys of Rizzle Kicks. This is a team up I didn’t see coming, but one I am so happy did.

Today is going to be a great day. St. Lucia‘s brand new video just premiered over at The Guardian, it is more spellbinding than we could have imagined. ‘Before The Dive’ is a piano driven, lyrically daring, and brooding twist on the warm tropical sounds that have become his signature. The daring and subversive words of the song are met with unsettling camera angles and mysterious, yet beautifully compelling figures searching their way through the world around them. Their search colminates with an explosive and cosmic shattering kiss that takes them far into the reaches of the universe.

Queen of Hearts just announced on her Facebook page that her video for ‘Neon’ has arrived. And what an entrance the Queen has made with this video. The entire video is a 4 minute stunning play on light, motion and rhythm. If there was ANY doubt left that Queen of Hearts is an artist to be reckoned with, this handily smashed all that doubt clear out of your brain.

Lovedrug is a band you just naturally hear about. Perhaps it’s because they have an awesome band name and have been on tour with the likes of The Killers, Robert Plant, and Switchfoot. Or maybe it’s because these guys have been making great music for 11 years, just released their fourth full-length album, and are skeptical about the alleged moon landing. That’s right folks – us moon landing naysayers are not alone!
I was able to catch up with the Lovedrug guys as they descended upon Los Angeles. They’ll be playing the Bootleg Theatre on Thursday and were kind enough to answer a few questions for KKS. When asked what three words they want synonymous with the band they said melancholy, beautiful, and mercurial. I’ll admit, I googled the definition of mercurial. Naturally Merriam Webster gave me far too many options, but they all sort of fit. Lovedrug’s musical vibrations can be changeable, lively, sprightly, and quick-witted. That is clearly demonstrated as you take a mystical journey through their most recent album, Wild Blood, and the self-directed videos they released along with the tracks. The band says there has always been a visual nature to the way they write music. For Lovedrug, being able to picture a scene along with a song creates a deeper connection and the opportunity to truly extract yourself from a current situation. It’s the ultimate escape and involvement with creating videos to go with their music was a natural progression. The Penelopes were first featured on our January 2012 Mixtape, their great track ‘Now Now Now’ got a disco work over from The C90′s. Since then they have put out a new music video for their next single ‘Sally In The Galaxy’ and a full remix EP. The video is a fun, playful nostalgic romp to childhood in the 90′s, while the track is a positive anthem about defying the norm and tells you ‘Don’t be scared of flying high”. Just a lot of fun on Friday morning!
The video is a colorful, twisted re-envisioning of classic 60′s twilight zone-esque sci-fi & psychological thrillers. Zulu Winter is prepping for the release of their debut LP, Language,out on une 19th. ‘Silver Tongue’is driven by an energetic bass line, punctuated with bright synths, that leads you to a danceable chorus.
Zulu Winter will be making their first stop in NYC at the Mercury Lounge on June 12th.

Dragonette just dropped a new video for their incredible new track ‘Let It Go’. The track is everything you could want from Dragonette, just turned up to 11. Packed with explosive energy, pounding bass, echoing and soaring synths and Martina’s trademark vocals. The video is a surreal take on mad medical mayhem, Martina is abducted by a group of scientists that seem to be bent on capturing the euphoric feeling exuded by ‘Let It Go’ and the bright flashing technicolor images in the washed out world.
“We don’t need a cure for the wait of the world, cause it’s floating around in the universe!”
Dragonette is set to embark on a US tour with The Knocks for most of the tour.
