After nearly a year underground (or lurking in the dark corners of who-knows-where), the Gorillaz’s Murdoc Niccals has resurfaced and is again wreaking havoc — this time over the airwaves. Current GRAMMY® nominee Adele will make her much anticipated return to the live stage on the 54th Annual GRAMMY Awards. This will be her first time performing live in nearly five months since being forced to cancel a sold-out U.S. tour to undergo surgery on her vocal cords.
“I’m immensely proud to have been asked to perform at this year’s GRAMMY Awards,” said Adele. “It’s an absolute honor to be included in such a night, and for it to be my first performance in months is very exciting and of course nerve-racking, but what a way to get back into it all.”
Two-time GRAMMY winner Adele has six nominations: Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year and Best Short Form Music Video for “Rolling In The Deep”; Album Of The Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for 21; and Best Pop Solo Performance for “Someone Like You.”
Music’s Biggest Night® — hosted by two-time GRAMMY winner LL COOL J — takes place live on Sunday, Feb. 12 at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles and will be broadcast in high definition and 5.1 surround sound on the CBS Television Networkfrom 8 – 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT). The show also will be supported on radio worldwide via Dial Global, and covered online at GRAMMY.com and CBS.com, and on YouTube here. Snow Patrol has just unleashed their cover of the U2 iconic track ‘Mystery Ways’. The beautifully stripped down, vocally driven cover is part of an LP specially recorded to mark the 20th anniversary of the seminal album Achtung Baby. The album has been re-recorded for a special CD, titled AHK-toong BAY-bi and is available with this month’s Q magazine, which is out now. Snow Patrol is just one of the names behind to homage to this definitive album and are among the likes of Damien Rice, Nine Inch Nails, Patti Smith, Depeche Mode, The Killers and Jack White, each tackling a track from the classic record just for this very special release.
Snow Patrol is set to release their next album Fallen Empires on January 12th, but want to give their fans a private peak into the their lives and work that goes into creating an album, to do this they have released an App for iOS and Android. Downloading the new app will give you access exclusive in-the-studio video content and behind-the-scenes photos from the band’s amazing live shows. I am in love with every single part of this video, beautifully shot, beautifully paced, and the animation is stunning. I love how music videos are becoming 3 or minute long cinematic affairs, the freedom of the internet has lifted the muzzle on creativity and access. M83 took the interwebs by storm with ‘Midnight City’ and have just dropped their debut LP, Hurry Up, We’re Still Dreaming. I am sure the dreamy, super hero inspired music video will only help people become enamored even more with M83‘s synth filled dreampop sound.
Web orders of The Stepkids album on CD or LP – available today, a week ahead of the release date – will ship with this Postcard 45 of the new track “Bitter Bug”. Note: This record is not a flexi-disc, not vinyl. The grooves are etched directly into the card. As a result, sound quality may very greatly from one postcard to the next and may not be up to “rock the house party” or “one to impress my discerning audiophile buddy” standards. Still pretty damn cool!
