British songwriter Charley Bickers has enlisted an all-star cast of musicians to kick-off his solo career. The Verve’s very own Nick McCabe has produced his beautifully nostalgic first single “Built To Last” and boy can you tell. The bruised, swirling soundscapes recall the Verve at their most atmospheric and provide a bed for Charley’s tender vocals to float above. It’s an astonishing introduction to Bickers’ debut album, which is still to reveal tracks with Nick McCabe and Si Jones from The Verve, Fyfe Dangerfield, Jonny Scaffidi from Saint Saviour and Davide Rossi, member of Goldfrapp and string arranger for Coldplay.
