This brings me back to all those beautifully honest, jazzily whimsical hip-hop productions, when I was spinning Little Brother (9th Wonder), PUTS, or a little farther back with Camp Lo. “Frozen” and the entire Cloudshine album pairs indie-soul singer Reva DeVito and depressingly amazing producer Roane Namuh. Together they construct a gorgeously grown-up hip-hop piece that makes me want to contact Mark Farina about putting this on the next Mushroom Jazz Compilation. Cloudshine is available for name your price on their Bandcamp, I grabbed it for free (no lie), but honestly, after listening to “Frozen” & “Champagne” 10 times in the past hour, I know I’m going to be rocking this album all summer, so a few of my dollars are definitely going their way. I want it on vinyl. period. Props to the crew at Middle White Class Noise for the heads up.
