Vanbot’s debut album Vanbot (001) was hands down one of the best elecro-pop albums of 2011. A truly unique and different pop artist and her debut album was everything I could want in a pop album. Musically she rests somewhere, and very comfortably I might add, between the raw emotion of Robyn, the calmingly upbeat feel of Ellie Goulding/Starsmith and the emotional synths of Little Boots. Her voice is clear and crisp – made for pop melodies.
Her new single ‘Got To Get Out’, fresh off a Nylon premiere continues the same incredible pop sound I have fallen completely in love with. She is poised to take the US by storm and will be in Austin, TX this March for SXSW, and show I am hoping I will be able to see.
Vanbot herself describes the inspiration behind “‘Got To Get Out’ to Nylon. “‘Got To Get Out’ is about my hometown Stockholm and how it’s filled with people experiencing a sense of isolation and separation, how it makes you feel lonely in a crowd,” she explains. “It’s fascinating that people can live so close together without really noticing one another. It’s about exploring the city nightlife and the tendencies people have to chase after the experiences that will cause the best story to tell the next day instead of enjoying the happiness of the moment.”
