Too often people try to act a certain way to please a certain audience and what I fancy most about Rai Knight, including her collaborations, is that she’s just herself – so obviously comfortable in her own skin, and that’s just plain inspiring to those listening. This is to say nothing of the fact that she manages to balance being mainstream with a unique kitsch that drives every listener, myself included, wild with joy. I’m just so appreciative to be on this road with Rai (although she may not notice I’m tailgating her musical journey), and mind you, my die hard fandom is few and far between. So now am I using my Kick Kick Snare to send her a message like “Please come to SXSW and be part of our interview and recording sessions!”? I think I just did.
