Hello blogosphere, my second “stay warm post of the day” is featuring Mansions on the Moon. An electronically rhythmic-folk trio from, well.. their from VA, TN, and IA. I couldn’t really find a comprehensive bio about these guys, but what I do know about them, is that they are connected. A mixtape/project with super producers Diplo & Benzi, along with NERD and Xaphoon Jones (Chiddy Bang), all this coupled with their core producer Pharrell (heard of him?) It is quite an star studded melting pot of a project. The music alighns with the new wave of electronic pop: dynamic sounds of every kind, layered with beautiful harmonies (“Desert Island” + “Athens”). But they also throw in the occasional acoustic folk track that is extremely reminscent of Simon & Garfunkel (“Rest of your day”). I will also make a side note that I try to refrain from using monster metaphors of that nature. With thousands of “favorites’ on Hypem and an entourage that looks like a Jay-Z & Kanye party, Mansions on the Moon will are on track to be the next Yeasayer or Foster the People (in all the good ways, hopefully not the bad).
