So this was a tough choice, my head was saying go with Wolf Gang vs. AlunaGeorge ‘Back To Back‘ as it’s INCREDBILE, but my heart was screaming for this remix. So in the end the fact that it has brought more smiles to my face than I can count, has kept me and numerous friends bouncing around house parties, bars, and very compact cars like fools with joy for most of 2011, and fueled a twitter love session between me and the bad-ass Novia Scotian herself won out. It has been in every set list since I first heard it and I do not see that changing any time soon. Kay is one to watch kids, a pop powerhouse in the making.
If you don’t know Kay, then you are new to KickKickSnare, as we are kinda fans of the brash, confident, and unstoppably energetic rising pop-star. Who’s lead single ‘My Name is Kay’ is full of old school funk, retro hip-hop and 90′s dance house, that at times reminds me of a Gospel choir or a Robyn-esque rap break down. All that raw energy is perfect for a Frankmusik overhaul and to add his signature pop energy to the track. He takes the original version, strips off some of the grit and funk and takes it to a place of absolute digital amazingness – complete with an explosive epic videogame intro.
