Earlier today I was asked everyone’s favorite question: “What are you listening to right now?”…What came to mind was two singles that I have been blasting on repeat for the past week and a half. The first is Purity Ring’s “Ungirth”, and if you havn’t heard it, cop it now. The second is this track by Kendrick Lamar, Oaklands latest member of the contemporary rap family. The way I’ve been describing this track is a chilled/psychedelic soul beat + new Bone-Thugz N Harmony. The first track I thought of was “Can’t Go Wrong” by Johnny Spanish, if you dig this, you will love that. I’m excited for this dude, mainly because outside of a good beat, I need a dope flow, and he has it, period. From what I’ve been reading he seems to be working on his new album with everyone’s favorite Detox spokesperson, and based solely on collaborators, if Dr. Dre doesn’t get you any credibility in the rap game, nothing will.
