Well the big move to the new apartment on the Venice Canals got pushed to next weekend. And just so I can put it out in the ether…the apartment better be immaculate. The carpet in the bedrooms replaced, the wood flooring polished throughout, the walls freshly painted and not a spec of dust in sight. I’m bringing a white glove! I already have to call the utility companies and reschedule. So if the place isn’t sparkling clean I will stand Mr. Landlord up – and there will be a hoedown. Ho. Smacked. Down.
I dedicate this post to Casa Escobar in Santa Monica and the Cadillac Margarita pictured above. There is nothing like closing down a piano bar with the person you love. I’ve closed down a piano bar many times before, but never with someone – never in love. Me alone slurring out requests and drowning my blues to the chords of a falling star isn’t quite the same. And trust me, love can make you do some really stupid things. I can overact up and down Pacific Avenue with the best of them. But it’s worth the fight.
And yes, there’s a Boyz II Men song below. Get into it.
MP3: Love Will Keep Us Together by Captain & Tennille
MP3: To Build a Home by The Cinematic Orchestra
MP3: (They Long To Be) Close To You by The Carpenters
MP3: Amazed by Boyz II Men
MP3: Can’t Help Falling In Love by Elvis
