Twenty-one year old pop singer from Detroit, Alex Winston, has just released The Basement Covers EP which includes an impressive choice of old songs and new talent. From Rolling Stones to Jack Penate to Mumford & Sons and the two tracks I’ve enclosed below, the delicate transformations are all available for free download here. Is it really a surprise she’s opened for acts such as Chuck Berry, and that she plays all the instruments on each of her recordings? Not really. Nor is it that cool New Yorker’s The Knocks signed on to produce the EP either.
