My friend Scott in NYC sends out a playlist every few weeks. Only a handful are included and I consider myself lucky to be one of them. This weekend was supposed to be filled with bass heavy, blared out dance beats. But instead, the tracks below owned my ears. I should have known when I first started listening through at the end of last week that these selections were going to shake things up.
First of all, and not to over-dwell, Lady Kier never made it on stage Friday night at Vanguard. That whole night was a whole lotta “what the fuck.” Names weren’t on the list. Three separate parties within the same venue. However, the main stage were Kier was to perform on was a ghost town. Met the promoters who apparently are from Honolulu. Well, let’s just say, they can’t hop on a dolphin and make their way back quick enough as far as I’m concerned. Cutting to the chase, I found out the morning after that the promoters didn’t have Kier’s money so she didn’t step a foot out of her hotel. Let’s just blame these songs I pulled from Scott’s playlist. See what I’m doing. Fill circle and now moving on.
I visited Tanya at Raya spa on Saturday. She basically pulled my face off, sent it through a microdermabrasion treatment and an oxygen facial and then reattached it. Trying to look my best for my trip to the south on Thursday. (Much more on that later!) Now the red shine just needs to fade and I’ll be all set. I finally got to watch The Runaways mid day. That Dakota Fanning is the real deal. I mean, that scene toward the end in the grocery store…killed me. Met Sutton at his office (where he needs to stop living – yeah I wrote it) and brought Chinese food. It was delicious and that’s pretty much that.
Sunday was spent on the promenade in Santa Monica. Spend most of the time on the north end and ate deliciously disgusting food at Johnny Rockets. The situation balanced itself out though. First, most of the street performers on the promenade are seriously talented. Occasionally you’ll have the weirdos like the father and son gymnastic show or the elderly lady belly dancing. But today across from where Sutton and I ate lunch was a female vocalist named Sammie Jay who absolutely blew up the spot. I even conned my waiter into giving me cash back. I only had credit cards and needed her CD. But she deserves her very own post so keep an eye out for that.

Have you heard Com Truise’s remix of ‘Sleep Paralysist’? It’s absolutely stunning, check it out if you have a chance: http://bit.ly/gFs8dL
