What a weekend! Started Friday night off with Paul at Axe in Venice on Abbot Kinney. Great food (those potatoes!) and even better conversation (per usual). First part of Saturday was spent working on a certain top secret business plan that is as challenging as it is enthralling. Decided that rushing it wouldn’t be doing myself or the project justice. So my weekend deadline was prescribed a prozac and four deep breaths. It will be executed. As the sun went down, so did my laptop screen. I met Sutton at his place shortly after. “What do you want to do?” turned into “I dunno, What do YOU want to do?” Truth is, “it” didn’t matter – not one bit. To not much surprise, we had a pretty impressive outcome. Dinner was had at pinata filled Casa Escobar. Margaritas, burritos, and even a pianist playing everything from the Charlie Brown theme to Lionel Richie. From there it was off to the Landmark Theater in Westwood for a screening of Banksy‘s “Exit Through The Gift Shop“. Such a compelling documentary that I highly recommend to anyone appreciative of street art. After practically over dosing on gummi bears, we entertained going to West Hollywood and dancing but quickly opted for a night cap at LA dive Liquid Kitty. Sutton had a 7&7, I had a dirty martini and we shared a shot of Absinthe. Funk blared from the speakers synced to topless vintage stripper video projections. It was strangely perfect. Rules don’t apply to Liquid Kitty. Neither do blacks outs for me anymore so it was time to hightail it home. Turns out Elle went dancing in West Hollywood and we would have crossed paths unknowingly. We switched a few BBM’s before bed. I love having her back in LA. In the morning Sutton and I had breakfast on the boardwalk in Venice at the Sidewalk Cafe. The picture above (taken from our table) is of the band who serenaded us through our breakfast burritos and huevos rancheros. Perfect weather, great music, people watching galore. Next up? Thanks to Sutton’s firm we got to enjoy the company’s season tickets for the Dodgers. Finally got to meet Brad and Colleen who were both as sweet as could be. The Dodgers murdered the Pirates. And we murdered a healthy amount of beer, Dodger dogs, pretzels and sun. Now I’m back online trying my best to focus on the upcoming week. Which is difficult with this grin taking over my face. Oh yeah, and I think I’m in love. That’s when you’ve found your other half right?
